Katy Southerland, MSN, RNC-OB is a Clinical Informatics Specialist II specializing in perinatal and newborn informatics. With a master’s degree in Nursing Informatics and national certification in Inpatient Obstetrics, she supports nursing and provider teams across the Epic Stork application, including obstetrics, postpartum, newborn nursery, and NICU settings. Katy leads the WakeMed Epic SuperUser group, advising clinicians across all areas on efficient and effective use of the Epic system. She also chairs the Stork Optimization group, guiding interdisciplinary discussions to enhance workflows, improve documentation, and support quality data collection. Katy is passionate about empowering clinicians through education and serves as a trainer for both new and established Stork users seeking to improve proficiency and efficiency.
