Description
Our TeleICU program began in 2022 and provides critical care consultation to the 8 community ICUs in the ECUH system. At ECUH MC we have a PCCM Fellowship training program (26 fellows). All rotations are performed at ECUH MC which is an academic tertiary hospital.
In February of 2025 we initiated a new ICU rotation at ECU Health Beaufort with 3 main goals: A community ICU patient experience, expanded autonomy, and a Tele-health learning opportunity. A senior level fellow (second year or above) is at Beaufort ICU Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM and is a consultant in the ICU for patients with the following criteria: Shock requiring vasopressor therapy, Significant hypoxia (requiring > 10 L NC, NIPVV, or MV), Any critically ill patient at discretion of primary provider.
Fellows see patients and discuss with TeleICU attending at ECUH MC via Televideo technology. Fellows provide bedside care including POCUS, MV management, procedures, etc.
The goal of the presentation is to discuss the impacts of using telehealth in critical care training and on patient outcomes.
