Karen Goeke-Austin is currently a HCS Analytics & Interoperability Developer working within the research realm and has been with UNC Health for over 15 years. She started her career as a high school English teacher but joined the Healthcare IT field more than 25 years ago. She has worked in Home Health, Hospice, Ambulatory, Emergency Department and Inpatient roles as a trainer and an analyst utilizing six different EHR systems. In addition to her professional work, Karen is dedicated to advocacy efforts, leading a dyslexia advocacy group focused on improving access to effective interventions for struggling readers throughout North Carolina.
