Currently serving as the Director for Primary Care Informatics at Duke Health. Involved in many health system projects focusing on implementing integrated EHR tools and driving technology initiatives to enhance provider well-being, patient care and provider efficiency. Previously served Medical Director for Adult Primary Care 2022-2024, Physician Champion 2016-2022.
Michele earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She completed a family medicine residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and has been a physician with Duke Primary Care since 2016. Prior to joining Duke, she helped create and lead the provider group of WakeMed’s primary care network and served as the Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for that health system. She was instrumental in implementing Epic at WakeMed and in growing their primary care provider group.
From 2016 to 2022, Michele served as a Regional Medical Director in Duke Primary Care with oversight of up to eight practices and more than 40 providers. In her role as an ambulatory physician champion, she helped lead the development, expansion and growth of the DPC Maestro Care superuser program, facilitated the implementation of numerous enhancements to EHR system, and partnered with DPC clinical and operational teams to develop telehealth capabilities. She also provided critical support for the transition to value-based care through Hierarchical Condition Categories coding and risk adjustment. Michele has maintained an active clinical practice since 1998.
