Reducing nursing documentation. The primary objective was to improve performance, reduce duplication, and remove nonvalue-added documentation elements in our EMR using best practice approaches. An initial survey was sent to all inpatient acute care staff nurses’ system-wide to assess their perception of nursing documentation. The survey results prompted the task force to convene a workgroup consisting of staff nurses and IT analysts to move forward with assessing current state and working towards reducing duplication and waste within our EMR. We will share our outcomes and our lessons learned related to our reduced documentation committee work.
