At Duke Health we have been investigating the application of Epic Care Paths to help monitor and improve clinical care delivery. At previous Epic NCUGM we presented initial pilots of Mechanical Ventilation, CRE Infection Screening, and Code Status transitions which had limited impact due to complexities in workflow or scope of process. Our latest Care Path deployment modeling VTE prophylaxis provision throughout an inpatient encounter with integrations into clinical reminder OPAs and documentation has been successfully deployed. Accompanying analytics with SlicerDicer Care Path data model and real time oversight monitoring in system lists and workbench reports have provided framework for further insight into process control and quality improvement efforts.
