Pathology (clinical) reports are mostly narrative and describe the procedure used to obtain the sample, a gross description, a microscopic description, and a final diagnosis. It may also include information about margins, lymph nodes, molecular results, and pathogens. Synoptic reports contain the same information; however it is structured in a standard discreate question / response format that better leans itself to analytical reporting. With Epic's August 2024 update, the Lab SlicerDicer data models now have several Synoptic reports that can be searched.
