Speaker Bio
I am Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for Duke University Health System and Physician Informatician with extensive experience in the build and configuration of Duke’s Electronic Health Record. I completed a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University in 2012 as a National Library of Medicine Fellow. In August 2012, I joined Duke University Health System to lead more than 30 physician champions in support of the roll out of our EHR across more than twenty applications in Inpatient, Surgical and Ambulatory environments.. This experience has given me an intimate working knowledge of our clinical workflows in the EHR across specialties.
My focus in support of our EHR is to develop the technology to provide quality care, safely for our patients and be a joy for our clinician users. As an informatician, I use my skills of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Data Visualization, Data Transformation and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) to continuously improve our EHR. Using these skills, I have conducted and supported extensive clinical research of my own and in for others, in computable phenotype development, data visualization, clinical decision support, Social Drivers of Health, use of EHR audit log metrics and clinical taxonomies.
