Jacob W. Parrish is an experienced health care executive with a strong background in capacity and throughput management, operational excellence, case management, utilization review, and emergency management. He currently serves as the Vice President of Capacity & Throughput at ECU Health in rural eastern North Carolina where he has been since October 2021. In this role, Jacob is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to maximize performance regarding patient flow across ECU Health, focusing on throughput, bed placement, and capacity management protocols for nine hospitals across the region.
Jacob has a proven track record of leading multi-year strategies, collaborating with leadership, and achieving organizational goals. He has implemented systems and processes to maximize quality of care, patient satisfaction, and efficient operations. Recent notable accomplishments include increasing operational volume to historic levels while maintaining quality and safety, establishing a reliable governance structure, and evolving the case management model to a "Centers of Excellence" approach.
Prior to his current role, Jacob held various leadership positions at ECU Health (formerly Vidant Health), including Vice President of Systems and Procedures, Administrator of Systems and Procedures, and Director of Growth and Reform.
Jacob holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Public Health from East Carolina University. He is actively involved in community service and professional organizations, including serving as President of Pitt County Group Homes Foundation and as a board member of the East Carolina University Alumni Association.
