Dr. Hanna is a physician informaticist and an infectious diseases physician focuses on leveraging advanced analytics, clinical AI, and digital health to transform patient care and outcomes. He leads initiatives to expand telehealth access across eastern North Carolina, streamline AI deployment strategies, and drive innovation in digital health analytics. His research focuses on utilizing real-world data for clinical research informatics, exploring the potential of generative AI for healthcare, and promoting health-centered strategies to enhance patient-centered care.

Dr. Hanna was the first integrated adult infectious diseases and clinical informatics fellow in the United States, completing his integrated fellowship at UT Southwestern in 2023 before joining ECU Health. Alongside his informatics leadership role, Dr. Hanna maintains an active clinical practice, providing inpatient and outpatient care for patients with infectious diseases.
