I began my career as a Medical Technologist at Rex Hospital in Raleigh in 1986. I became interested in computer systems and databases in the early 1990s and by 1995 I was a full time LIS analyst. I have spent the last 30 years supporting various LIS systems (Labcom, Citation, Cerner), the last 9+ devoted to Epic Beaker. My focus has been mainly in instrument interfaces, HL7 interfaces to external EMRs, anatomic pathology, genomics and most recently digital pathology.
