Deanna Franke is a board-certified Clinical Chemist with 20+ years of experience in laboratory medicine. She received her BA degree in Microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1999 and completed her second BS in Clinical Laboratory Science in 2001 from University of Louisville. Deanna completed her Masters (2003), PhD in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology (2005), and Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology Fellowship (2007) at the University of Louisville. She has been a Technical Director in a large healthcare institution in Hollywood, Florida (Memorial Healthcare System) and a Lab Director in independent laboratories in Lincoln, Nebraska (Nebraska LabLinc) and Raleigh, NC (LipoScience). In 2015, she joined Atrium Health and currently serves as the Technical Director at Atrium Health Core Laboratory in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her focused interests include leveraging clinical decision support for effective lab test utilization and optimizing electronic delivery of laboratory results. She enjoys providing technical quality guidance to laboratory teammates in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Serology, implementing new tests/instruments, and partnering with nursing, physician, and clinical informatics leaders to drive better outcomes and deliver best in care.
