Matthew Ellis serves as a Chief Resident at Wake Forest University Internal Medicine Residency program, hailing from Lithonia, Georgia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College, majoring in business administration with a minor in biology. Post-graduation, he worked as an administrative assistant in his college's premedical department while applying to medical school.

Matthew pursued his medical education at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Recently, he secured a spot in the Gastroenterology Fellowship at Duke University School of Medicine. Matthew envisions a career in gastroenterology with a particular focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, health disparities, technology in healthcare, and the intersection of business in medicine.

In his leisure time in Winston-Salem, Matthew enjoys cycling throughout the city, weightlifting at LA Fitness, trying out new restaurants with friends, and traveling to neighboring cities with his wife on weekends.
