In order to obtain access to Epic@UNC, users must complete required training as determined by the Training department. The training designed for nursing students focuses on the activities within their scope of practice as a student clinician. During their clinical rotations with their assigned instructor, they perform other activities per their clinical practice objectives. While they may understand the technical component of how to document, they may not be familiar with the clinical impact of their documentation. This collaborative project between the UNC School of Nursing and the Epic@UNC Training team is designed to help close this gap. And by closing the gap, these student clinicians are more likely to be successful in their clinical rotations and that success extends even into their future careers at UNC Health.
